Opportunities for Adult Musicians

Chorale

Love to sing? We’d love to have you! Members of Chorale sing each weekend at 10 AM Mass on Sundays from September through Pentecost. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7-9 PM. Our repertoire is eclectic, for we are a SATB ensemble that pulls from classical style literature to contemporary literature with the goal of adding beauty and prayer through song. We  join student ensembles and Handbell Choir for Holy Thursday, Easter Sunday and Vigil, as well as Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, and Christmas Day. Membership is open to all from high school onward with a brief audition.

Handbell Choir

Members ring each month at one Saturday 4 PM Mass as a solo ensemble, and one Sunday 10 AM Mass with the Chorale from September through May. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7-9 PM. Our repertoire is eclectic, and players learn to ring starting with easier pieces of classical style literature all the way through to contemporary literature with the goal of adding unique beauty and excitement to the celebration of Mass. They also join our Chorale and the Student Ensembles for Christmas Day Mass, Holy Thursday Mass, and Easter Sunday Mass. Membership is open to all from high school onward.

Handbell Quartet

Members are selected by the Director of Music Ministry, and perform complex selections for four ringers. They play several times throughout the church year and add another layer of beauty to our Handbell music.

Men’s Chorus

Following the ancient tradition of the church, this ensemble is made of men from high school onward who sing TTBB repertoire from ancient to contemporary literature, accompanied by guitar and percussion. This ensemble is in full swing in the summer, meeting each Wednesday for rehearsals. They sing most every weekend of the summer, and one Mass each month during the regular choir season from September through May. 

Women's Chorus

This ensemble was created to parallel the Men’s Chorus in the last decade here at our parish. This ensemble of women from high school onward, made up solely of females, who sing SSA repertoire from ancient to contemporary literature. This ensemble is in full swing in summer, meeting each Wednesday for rehearsals. They sing most every weekend of the summer, and one Mass each month during the regular choir season from September through May.

Cantors

Do you have a strong voice and would like to lead the congregation in song by yourself? Consider becoming a cantor! If interested, please contact Jon Thibo for an audition.

Children’s Choir

This choir is all about including our young singers into the liturgy! Membership is open to any student of our parish grades 2-8. Members from PSR and Day School gather for rehearsals each Tuesday 4 - 5 PM from September through May, and lead Mass at least one time per month on Sunday at 12 Noon. SCS Students also provide weekly leadership for the Friday School Masses. Our Children’s Choir also joins our Adult Choirs, Chime Choir, and Instrumental Ensemble for special occasions such as Christmas Day Mass, Holy Thursday Mass, and Easter Sunday Mass. This ensemble provides a foundation for our young musicians to grow in their love of music as well as their love of God.

Student Cantors

Ready to help lead us in song? You may want to think about becoming a student cantor! They are selected by the school music teacher as well as the Director of Music Ministry for this important and skilled role. To participate in this program, students should express their interest in leading the congregation, and be in grades 4-8. Members from our Day School gather for rehearsals prior to the Children’s Choir 3-4 PM on Tuesdays (September through May), and help lead Mass on Sunday at Noon as well as the Day School weekly Mass. Mentorship for weekend Masses is provided in the summer when schedules are freer to allow for adult/youth work together to enhance their skills as leaders of song and prayer in our church. Our student cantors also join our Adult Choirs, Chime Choir, and Instrumental Ensemble for Christmas Day Mass, Holy Thursday Mass, and Easter Sunday Mass.

Chime Choir

Members from PSR and our Day School gather for rehearsals each Monday from 4-5 PM! This choir is in session from September through May, and leads Mass at least once a month at Noon on Sunday. They also ring with the Children’s Choir at the Friday School Masses. Membership is open to any student of our parish grades 4-8.  They also join our Adult Choirs, Children’s Choir and Instrumental Ensemble for Christmas Day Mass, Holy Thursday Mass, and Easter Sunday Mass. 

Instrumental Ensemble

Do you love to play an instrument? This is the ensemble for you! Membership is open to any student of our parish grades 6-8 to come together and share their instrumental talents. Members from PSR and Day School gather for rehearsals each Wednesday from 4-5 PM (September through May), and lead Mass one time per month on Sunday at 12 Noon as well as certain Day School Masses. They will also join other parish choirs for Holy Thursday, and may assist at Christmas and Easter as their skill levels permit.
