St. Columbkille students attending the eighth grade in our school or our Parish School of Religion program, celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. There is a 2 year preparation program for this Sacrament and it begins in Grade 7. It is very important for the candidates to be current in their religious education as well as actively and regularly practicing their faith.
Adults who have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation need to contact a priest or deacon for information regarding our adult Confirmation preparation program.
The role of Confirmation sponsor is extremely important as one who promises before God to be a faith-filled, practicing role model for the child or adult now and in the future. They must be at least 16 years of age and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. Sponsors must be registered in a parish, participate in Mass weekly and receive the Sacraments regularly. If they are married they must be in a valid marriage. Each sponsor is required to obtain a sponsor certificate from his or her own parish. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the parish office to speak with a priest.
