H A B I T S

H - Honor the Lord

You are wonderfully and beautifully made in the image and likeness of God. Before you were knit together in your mother’s womb the Father in Heaven knew you and set you aside for a divine and holy purpose: to honor the God who made you by giving and receive love.

A - Attend a Small Group

At St. Columbkille we believe that our faith life is stronger the more we are connected with each other. Groups are between 6-12 people who meet together on a weekly basis to discuss life, faith, go deeper in the weekly homily message, and support one another in their relationship with Christ. Small Groups are where faith and life intersect, and positive change really happens. These groups are a place to care for others and be cared for; a place to impact our community and the world.

B - Believe in the Word of God

In the Gospel of John, we read that the “Word” of God became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus is the living “Word” of God, and the authors of the bible wrote sacred scripture as God’s love letter to us. If you want to fall in love with Jesus and come to know God then you need to read the Bible!

I - Invest in Your Parish

There are 24 hours in a day and 168 hours in a week. What you spend your time doing says a lot about the person you are and what you value. What you repeatedly spend time doing determines your life habits. Where you invest your time, talent and treasure help shape the person you become and ultimately determines your destiny. As Catholics our thoughts, actions, habits, and characters must be formed not by the world but by Christ and the Church God founded.

T - Tell the Gospel Story

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. Gospel means “Good News” so what is so good about Jesus anyway? All of us has heard it said at one time or another by friends, coworkers, or relatives “I believe Jesus was a good moral teacher but how do you know that Jesus is actually God?”

S - Serve in Mission and Ministry

Serving others in ministry and missions gives you a sense of belonging as a member of the Body of Christ. When you are helping others, the focus shifts from you to them. When you serve, you forget your own problems and are reminded that others also face difficulties in their lives.
